Blaze

Compact a conversation (/compact)

Summarize a long conversation so you can continue working in the same thread with less context.

How to use it

  1. Wait for Blaze to finish its response or task.
  2. Send /compact in the conversation input.
  3. Once “Conversation compacted.” appears, send your next request in the same thread.

You can specify details to preserve:

/compact Preserve the opportunity flow requirements, changed fields, and outstanding checks

A compact command in the input, outlined in red before sending

What is preserved?

The summary carries forward goals, decisions, changes, and next steps. Compacting does not modify files or Salesforce data.

Not every detail of the conversation will necessarily be preserved. Specify important conditions and reasons for decisions after the command.

When a conversation is not compacted

  • If there is no conversation yet, Blaze shows “There is no conversation to compact yet.”
  • If a summary would not make a short conversation smaller, it keeps the original context.
  • If compaction fails, the original conversation is preserved and an error is shown.

Blaze also compacts long conversations automatically when needed. Use /compact when you want to choose the timing, such as at a task boundary.

For the CLI command, see Blaze CLI /compact.
